Description

Trail Safety for Dogs

Presented by MyOutdoorJoy

MyOutdoorJoy is a certified outdoor education and adventure company dedicated to helping adults grow confidence and skills in the outdoors — whether they’re new to hiking or expanding on past experiences. With a focus on safe, accessible, and community-building outdoor experiences, MyOutdoorJoy offers expert-led classes designed to make outdoor activity rewarding and fun.

If you hike with your dog, this is a must-attend educational session. Drawing on real-world experience — including backgrounds in search and rescue — this class addresses common but preventable trail-related injuries and safety concerns for canine companions.

Everyone will learn essential dog-hiking safety strategies, including:

Heatstroke prevention and recognizing early warning signs

Paw protection and navigating rugged terrain

Hydration strategies for active dogs

Trail readiness, pacing, and route selection for safe adventures

This course is taught by a veterinarian with specialized knowledge in outdoor activity with dogs. Pet safety is a central focus, helping owners recognize if a dog is in distress and make informed decisions about trail conditions and challenges.

Please note: This is a human-only class. For comfort and safety, please leave your dogs at home.
