NC State Senator Vickie Sawyer Joins Rep. John Bradford for LKN Chamber Briefing
Focus Friday - Friday, January 19th 8:30am: Focus on the 2024 N.C. General Assembly
North Carolina State Senator Vickie Sawyer - District #37 will join N.C. State Representative John Bradford - District #98 when the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce hosts the first Focus Friday of 2024 at the Chamber Friday, January 19th 8:30-9:30am. The Legislative Briefing will be both in-person and virtual and held in the Randy Marion Board Room at the Chamber 19900 West Catawba Avenue Cornelius, NC.
Senator Sawyer, a Republican, represents Iredell and Mecklenburg County. Representative Bradford, also a Republican, represents District #98 which takes in Davidson, Cornelius, and some area of Huntersville. The Chamber reached out to Senator Natasha Marcus who represents Senate District #41 (Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, and Steel Creek) but she had prior commitments and cannot participate.
Senator Sawyer is Chair of the Senate Appropriations on Department of Transportation as well as Chair of Transportation. She also sits on the Senate Appropriations, Commerce and Insurance, Finance, and Rules Committees. Representative Bradford is the Senior Chair of Finance, Chair of Alcoholic Beverage Control, and sits on Commerce, Education, Finance, Insurance, Judiciary 1, and Regulatory Reform. Senator Sawyer will be attending in-person and Representative Bradford will be virtual. Rep Bradford has announced his intention to run for the 8th Congressional District Seat currently held by U.S. Rep Dan Bishop. Senator Marcus has announced her intention to run for N.C. Insurance Commissioner.
The two state lawmakers are expected to touch on the major legislation of 2023 and what is expected during the 2024 Legislative Session. Those wishing to attend must RSVP to the Chamber to attend in person or call or email the chamber for Zoom credentials at Russell@lakenormanchamber.org.
