Details of Award Recipient's

Huntersville – Savory Moments / Magnolia Woods

For over a decade, Savory Moments has been serving the Lake Norman community. Founded in 2009 by Heather Scovel and Jodi Wright, Savory Moments began as a humble catering service, born out of a love for food and a desire to create unforgettable experiences. With each event that was catered for, Savory Moments’ reputation grew as well as the trust and loyalty of clients.

In 2014, the business grew to the next level by acquiring a loan and purchasing a dedicated venue and catering kitchen. It was a bold move, but one that paid off giving two income streams to the business. Savory Moments began to grow, and the focus was on corporate breakfast, lunch, and dinners.

Like many businesses, Savory Moments and Magnolia Woods faced their share of challenges when the pandemic hit in March of 2020. The sudden halt in events and gatherings threatened to derail years of hard work and growth. Instead, they grabbed what work they could, laid off all employees and applied for loans and grants.

Through sheer determination and a relentless pursuit of excellence, Savory Moments began to rebound. The Savory Moments team worked tirelessly to rebuild the business, paying back loans and laying the groundwork for a stronger, more resilient future. Savory Moments caters a lot of our chamber events and those of our members and we congratulate Jodi and Heather and their staff on their success!

Davidson – Greater Smiles of Davidson

From starting out in a home office and providing mobile services to growing into a double salon loft -only to grow out of it six months later. They have over 750 new clients in the last year alone! Jasmine Egoavil  shared – “Much of our growth can be attributed to collaborating with tremendous local businesses, attending local networking meetings and receiving great work of mouth referrals from our community and clients. Luckily, our clients have loved us as much as we love them, since we continue to amass over one hundred 5 star reviews from Google. “

She adds, “The main thing that I attribute to our success is the results we provide. However, Brighter Smiles could not be as successful as we are today without all of our amazing clients and the support of local small business owners that have helped us grow to this point. This is a wonderful community and I am so grateful to be a part of it. “

Mooresville - FYZICAL Clinics of the Carolinas

Scott Thayer, Managing Partner along with his business partner, Robert Hub and  Physician Liaison, Kayla Christy were on hand to accept the award. While new to the Lake Norman and Charlotte metro area, FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers is a franchise business model with almost 600 locations nationwide.

Scott attributes their success to-date at FYZICAL Mooresville to assembling an outstanding core patient care team which includes Alexa Haggard, PT, DPT; Sasha Campbell, PT, MPT; and Client Care Specialist, Tamara Smith. Kayla Christy, FYZICAL’s Physician Liaison works directly with the external healthcare and business communities to build awareness of the physical therapy services FYZICAL Mooresville provides, including the care team’s focus on assisting members of the Lake Norman community in overcoming challenges with maintaining balance, dizziness, vertigo, and other debilitating orthopedic and neurological conditions.

Cornelius  - BIN 110

In November of 2017, Andy & Tallie Upchurch opened the doors to Bin110 with the hopes of bringing a high-quality Wine and Bourbon establishment to the Cornelius area. In the 6 1/2 years of Bin 110's existence, revenues have grown over 400%, with the plans in place for continued growth.

Many of these plans are the result of a recent expansion/renovation that saw Bin110's capacity nearly triple. The newly renovated space is a culmination of Andy & Tallie's initial dreams when opening in 2017, and provide the perfect backdrop to promote a menu that has grown to over 450 whiskies, nearly 100 wines, a full cocktail program, and some of the best quality musicians around! The new renovations also brought a full kitchen to the venue, and an ever evolving/expanding Small Plates Menu. Plans are to also add Saturday and Sunday brunch in 2024.

As Executive Bourbon Stewards, Andy & Tallie host numerous bourbon inspired tastings & events each month, including the opportunity for customers to take the Certified Bourbon Steward class. Aside from bourbon events, Bin110 also hosts regular wine tasting events, over 150 live music acts yearly, and their ever popular Comedy Nights, which take place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
