Lake Norman Chamber Members, Area Businesses and Residents:

This email goes out to all Chamber Members as a badly needed “Call to Action.” The McDowell County Chamber of Commerce has reached out to the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce for our assistance. It is our opportunity to step-up and help out our neighbors in critical need.

The McDowell County water treatment plant is expected to lose power within the next 24 hours. Much of the bottled drinking water has been drained from all the stores in the area. We are putting together an effort to collect these much needed supplies to start deliveries to Marion as soon as tomorrow morning.

Here are the main items that are badly needed:

• Cases or jugs of water
• Diapers
• Baby Formula
• Baby Supplies
• MREs
• Protein bars
• Non-perishable food items

We will start collecting any and all donations at the Payroll Plus HCM building at 19300 Statesville Road in Cornelius from 10:00 am to 6:00 on Sunday (Tomorrow) and during normal business hours on Monday and Tuesday. All donations are much appreciated. The supplies will be immediately transported to the Universal Advanced Manufacturing Center, located at 634 College Drive, Marion, NC 28752.  This center has been setup by McDowell County Chamber of Commerce and the McDowell County Emergency Operations Center. We just need to get the supplies to that location, and they will handle the distribution to those in needed.

This is a dire situation for the people of McDowell County and your help and support is deeply appreciated.
