Lake Norman Chamber to Host Diversity Luncheon Focusing on “The Power of Inclusion”

(Huntersville, NC – August 30, 2024) The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce will host a Diversity Luncheon on Thursday, September 26th 11:45am to 1:15pm at Northstone Country Club located at 15801 Northstone D. in Huntersville. The speaker is Joni Davis, the 2005 Board Chair of the Lake Norman Chamber. The topic will focus on “The Power of Inclusion.” MSC Industrial Supply in Davidson is the Presenting Sponsor of the luncheon.

Mrs. Davis served as the chief of staff for Duke Energy’s Office of the CEO and the chief diversity and inclusion officer prior to retiring in June of 2022. As chief of staff, she worked closely with the CEO and senior management team to develop strategic priorities for the enterprise. As chief diversity officer, she was responsible for developing and executing strategies to build on a strong culture of diversity, equity and inclusion to strengthen the company’s workforce and leadership team, as well as the communities served. She now owns her own firm, J Davis Group LLC, which provides DE&I and executive presence consulting.

Davis serves as the chair of the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture and chair of the Hugh McColl Center’s strategic advisors. She is the past chair of the Novant Health Piedmont Region board of trustees and is a past board member of Blumenthal Performing Arts, Foundation for the Carolinas-Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Foundation, Leadership Charlotte, Prevent Child Abuse NC, and the N.C. Center for Non-Profits.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Davis is a native of Charlotte. She also completed the University of Chicago Executive Leadership Program. She and her husband, Aaron, live in Davidson, N.C.

At the luncheon, the Chamber will also recognize individuals and local business who promote Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity in the Lake Norman region as the Chamber celebrates its “Champions of Diversity."

The cost to attend the luncheon is $35 for Lake Norman Chamber Members / $40 for non-members. Chamber members can register online or call the chamber at 704-892-1922. No reservations will be accepted after September 24th.
