About

Leslie Hunter Kahana arrived in Lake Norman in March of 2019 as the Group Publisher for Lake Norman Publications. In August of the same year, she renamed the company and became the new owner of Lake Norman Media Group, which encompasses three weeklies and a monthly newspaper as well as a full suite of digital products and services.


Prior to this, she was the Director of Advertising at the Chattanooga Times Free Press for over a decade. During her tenure she nationally led the industry in Advertising performance and managing budgets of up to 30 million dollars. Prior to working for newspapers, she spent eight years with Cox Media in Honolulu, Hawaii as General Sales Manager for two of the top five radio stations, leading the market in ratings and revenue.


Her high energy, innovation and proven ability at managing people has enabled her to motivate her staffs and engage advertisers. Her focus is to not only ensure that readers are provided with hyper local content that matters to them but to also generate impressive business results for customers, demonstrating a collaborative style and delivering strategic customized advertising and marketing solutions.


Throughout her career, she has been a leader in the business community, serving on many boards in various leadership roles. In recent years she went through the chairs and became president of Multi Media Advertising Executive Association and Newspaper Advertising Marketing Executives Association.


Kahana received her BS in Management Information’s Systems from California State University and has her MBA in Management from Golden Gate University. Leslie and her husband Glen have two children, Lisa and Derrick.
