Description

Focus Friday is a public policy program of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce that examines community and legislative issues from multiple perspectives. Held monthly, these events feature discussions led by local leaders, policymakers, and experts on topics such as economic development, public safety, and community planning. Focus Friday provides a platform for members and guests to engage in meaningful dialogue, gain insights into regional initiatives, and stay informed about matters affecting the Lake Norman area. The program is presented by Novant Health - Huntersville Medical Center and sponsored by Business Today and WSIC 105.9 FM. While intended for Lake Norman Chamber members and community leaders, guests are welcome to attend.

Education plays a vital role in shaping the future of our workforce and community. As part of our Focus Friday series, we’re proud to welcome Melissa Easley, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) Board of Education Representative for District 1, for an in-depth conversation on the current and future state of our public school system.

During this informative session, Melissa will share updates on the implementation and progress of the 2024 Bond Package—an initiative designed to address critical facility needs, enhance learning environments, and support growing student populations throughout the district. She will also provide an overview of what to expect in the upcoming 2024–2025 academic year, including planned improvements, instructional priorities, and strategic goals aimed at supporting student success.

Whether you're a business leader invested in talent development, a parent with a child in the CMS system, or a resident who cares about the strength of public education in our community, this is a valuable opportunity to hear directly from one of our local education leaders and engage in a conversation that matters.
